A walk in the park….. April 22, 2010

My friend, Sherry, and I took a picnic to the Arboretum today for our every-third-Thursday luncheon.

We sat under the trees and talked about houses and kids, schools and politics, sisters and gardens and chickens. Our lunch visits never last long enough. We don’t always have the same approach to life’s problems, but we share a heart for caring and understanding. And her thoughts always add depth to my own.

Real friends add a dimension to life that is healing to the soul.

Earlier this week, when a school problem came up, J and I had phone calls and e-mails of caring and support. J hadn’t realized, I think, how much he really can count on his own friends when the chips are down – or that their parents count him as a friend, as well.

It’s a good thing to know. 🙂
