Everyone who got where he is has had to begin where he was.                         ~Robert Louis Stevenson

Life’s good.  I have no regrets.  I’m active and getting healthier, slowly but surely.  So why not just keep on keepin’ on?  Why a bucket list?

Because I have things to do.   And doing some of them means that my family and friends need to know what’s up so they can come along for the fun, if they want.  I’d love that.  Some things on this very flexible list are kind of solo activities.  But others (like those that entail travel or adventure) would really only be enjoyable with great company.

And I realize, finally, that procrastination is equivalent to failure.

I’ll be changing the list pretty frequently at first, as I think through the difference between things I really feel a drive to do and those that would simply be pleasant side-trips.  Making the list public puts me on notice that the time is now.

In fact, now is the only time there is.

Bucket List v. 1.0 (in no particular order or priority)

1.  Write my novel.  And publish it.  Publish a book.  Not necessarily a novel.  The concept is morphing.  🙂

2.  Get my entire house clean – top to bottom – all at the same time.

3.  Have a party there.  (see above)

4.  Paint a landscape of at least 5 outstanding locations – live.  Locations to be announced but New Zealand would be great.

5.   Develop a meaningful website contributing to the keeping of marine aquariums.

6.   Meet some of my really special online friends so they can be fully adopted real-life friends.

7.  Become fluent in another language.

8.  Learn to play at least one John Denver song on my guitar just like he did it.

9.  Play a Chopin Nocturne on piano.

10.   Make a recording of our ‘dishwashing’ songs from my growing-up years.

11.  Make a scrap-book for each of my sons.

12.  Write a personal memoir to go in each one.

13.  Write a real hand-written letter, add a stamp and mail it –  every week for a full year.

14.  Write a blog post every day for one month.

15.  Develop a blog with at least 10K followers.

16.  Make a hand-made, personal Christmas gift for everyone on my list.  Not necessarily all in the same year.  😛

17.  Design, build and live in a house that can run functionally off the grid.

18.  Run the Great Race.

19.  Run (not walk) a LiveSTRONG 5K.

20.  Hike a 50 mile section of the continental divide or maybe the Wonderland Trail.

21.  Go snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef.

22.  Set up a reef aquarium devoted to education.

What’s on your bucket list?  I’d love to hear it!
